In response to a
petition signed by secular families in Shlomi1,
the High Court has abrogated a law forcing local children to enrol in the town's religious state school. In defiance of the the
Ministry of Education and the local council the High Court granted
parents the right to admit their children to secular schools in
nearby communities. Meretz MK, Ilan Gilon, dubbed the victory 'a
lesson in civics'.
